Laramie County Jail Roster

The Laramie County Jail Inmate Roster is a public resource that allows anyone to check if a specific individual is in custody at the county jail in the state of Wyoming. The site LaramieCourt.us provides access to publicly available information about current and recently released inmates. Additionally, data can be obtained through the official website of the Laramie County Sheriff's Office, by visiting the jail in person, or by calling the facility's main line. The roster is maintained by the Laramie County Detention Facility and is updated regularly, reflecting changes in the inmate population — new bookings, releases, and transfers. This transparency tool allows residents and stakeholders to track who is currently in custody.

Search Current Inmates in Laramie Jail

There are several ways to find information about current inmates in the Laramie County Jail.

Online Search

  1. Go to LaramieCourt.us to start searching publicly available court and jail records.
  2. Enter the person's full legal name (last name and first name) or booking number if known.
  3. Review the results — they typically include the name, booking date, charges filed, and custody status.

If the person has been transferred to a Department of Corrections facility, use the Wyoming Offender Locator — you can search by last name or WDOC inmate number there.

By Phone

Call the main line of the Laramie County Detention Facility. The operator can confirm if a specific person is in custody if you provide the full name or date of birth. Note: detailed information about charges or bail amounts is usually not provided over the phone.

In-Person Visit

Visit the jail lobby during business hours. Staff at the information window will assist with the search.

Juvenile offenders are not displayed in the public roster — their records are confidential under Wyoming law. To check county court cases, you can also contact the District Court of the 1st Judicial District Laramie County.

Find Laramie Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created at the moment a person is officially admitted to jail. It is not the same as a sentence — booking records the fact of arrest and initial processing.

During booking, the following information is generated:

  • Unique booking number
  • Date and time of admission
  • List of charges filed
  • Arresting agency (sheriff, Cheyenne police, Wyoming Highway Patrol, etc.)
  • Inmate photograph and basic identification details

These records are generally public. They can be found online through the jail roster on the sheriff's office website or via LaramieCourt.us. If a record does not appear in the online roster — for example, due to age or technical delay — submit a written request for public records directly to the Laramie County Sheriff's Office. For state-level criminal record inquiries, the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation processes official requests through its Criminal Records Unit.

Search the Laramie Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The roster supports two primary search methods.

Search by Last Name

Enter the person's last name in the appropriate field. Adding the first name narrows the results, which is especially useful for common last names. A few tips:

  • Check the spelling — one incorrect letter can yield no results.
  • Try spelling variations if the name may have alternative transliterations.
  • If the system supports partial search, enter only the first few letters of the last name.

Search by Booking Number

The booking number is the most accurate way to find a specific record. It is unique to each detention instance. If you have this number (for example, from bail documents or an attorney), enter it directly.

If the Search Yields No Results

The absence of a result does not necessarily mean the person is free. Here's what might be happening:

  • The booking is still being processed, and the record has not appeared in the system.
  • The person has already been released, and the record has been removed from the active roster.
  • The name was entered incorrectly, or the person is registered under a different legal name.
  • The inmate has been transferred to another facility — check the WDOC inmate search system.

If no option works, call the jail directly at (307) 633-4700.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Laramie

The Laramie County Jail roster is updated periodically throughout the day, but it does not happen instantly. There may be a delay of several minutes to several hours between the actual booking and the appearance of the record in the online roster, depending on staff workload and time of day.

Main limitations to be aware of:

  • Publication delay. Nighttime arrests sometimes appear in the system only the next morning.
  • Disappearance of records after release. The roster reflects the current inmate population. After release or transfer, the record may be removed from the public list.
  • Not an archive. The online roster does not contain a complete history of all past bookings. To obtain old records, a separate request must be submitted to the sheriff's office or contact the Wyoming State Archives, where historical county criminal cases are stored.
  • Data entry errors. Sometimes a last name may be recorded incorrectly during booking, complicating the search.

The roster is a tool for checking the current custody status. It does not replace an official criminal history report and is not proof of guilt — it only records the fact of being in custody at the time of viewing. For official court documents, contact the Wyoming Judicial Branch or the county court clerk.
